Die Motorräder reisen zuerst...

Die Idee mal mit dem Motorrad andere Kontinente zu bereisen ist nicht neu. 
Neu ist die Gelegenheit die sich mir bietet dank der guten Beziehung zu einem Kunden. Hast Du gewusst, dass die Leinwand des Zürcher Orangecinema regelmässig im Winter in Sydney zu Gast ist? Nebst der Leinwand wird da auch umfangreiches Equipment wie Projektoren, Barkonstruktion, VIP Zelt usw. verladen. Und der Knüller: Da hat's doch noch etwas Platz für 1-2 Motorräder. Heinz (der erwähnte Kunde und Freund) und ich werden also während der Sommersaison des St. George Openair Cinema's, so heisst das dort, die Zeit nutzen um Australien per Motorrad zu bereisen, hoffentlich auch das Outback. Die entsprechenden Reifen sind montiert.
Ganz grob ist das ungefähr die Gegend die wir in den 2 Monaten, die uns zur Verfügung stehen, bereisen können. Am 26. Oktober 2009 geht die Reise für die Motorräder los. Zuerst peinlich von jedem Dreck befreien - da sind die australischen Quarantäne-Vorschriften strikt.
Meine R1200GS mit Rund 36000 km und Heinz's brandneue neue F800GS sind
unter den Bögen des Châpiteau-Zeltes platzsparend untergebracht. Hoffen wir, dass die Piraten die wertvolle Fracht nicht in die Hände kriegen. Bei soviel WD40 Vorrat kann das Unternehmern nur noch "wie geschmiert" über die Bühne gehen.
Pete (der Mann für den Auf- und Abbau des Kino's), nimmt jeweils selber das Motorrad mit um lokal mobil zu bleiben - daher die Idee! Er hat uns bald nach dem Verlad noch den Tracking Link des Schiffs, das aus Rotterdam ausgelaufen ist geschickt, der "CMA CGM ORCHID".
Das Schiff ist seit dem 11.11.2009 verschollen :(, vielleicht haben Sie ja nur den Funk ausgeschaltet bis sie bei Indien vorbei sind - die Piraten hören mit.

The idea of travelling other continents with my own bike is not new. However new is the opportunity we are having with the Open Air Cinema of Zurich. Did you know the screen (and lots of equipment) from Zurich is re-used in the winter in Sydney? Thanks to a very good relationship with my Customer ( and Friend Heinz), we got the chance of shipping our motorbikes in some left over space in the container moving the VIP tent and other equipment such as projectors, bar construction, etc. So during the summer season of the St. George Openair Cinema in Sydney we will make the most of our time to travel Australia, hopefully including the Outback! The corresponding tyres are mounted 
The map shows only a first draft of the area we might be travelling in. On October 26, the bikes are beeing sent on their journey. But first we needed to clean them from every smallest dirt particle. The Australian quarantine restrictions are clear about that! My R1200GS with 36000km and Heinz's brandnew F800GS found their space between the arches of the "Châpiteau" tent construction. Now let's hope that the pirates don't get a hold of our bikes! With so much stock on WD40 Lubricant, there can't be anything stopping us, can it?
Pete, the project leader for this regular move, normally takes it's own bike along to stay mobile and travel as well if time permits. Soon after loading the container, he sent us the tracking link for the ship that sailed out of Rotterdam: CMA CGM ORCHID.
The vessel has not called in since 11.11.2009, let's hope everything is OK. Maybe they switched off the transponders so the pirates won't see them.
